There is something gentle (dolce) and familiar (nostalgica) about this CD - and this applies both to the original style of Peter Ostroushko as to the traditional pieces that he presents. Half the tracks are Ostroushko's composition, but done in the style of the folk songs from northeastern Italy, and specifically from Emilia-Romagna, source of most of the traditional songs presented. That's not all. There is Musetta's song by Puccini, and the ever popular Santa Lucia, from Napoli. Still, the collection is pleasing. If the melodies presented here are not already favorites, they will soon become so.
